Situated at the foot of Blencathra is Threlkeld's Old Mission Room, built in 1885 by the Keswick & District Christian Workerd Band using Lakeland slate rubble for the walls and green slate tiles for the roof. In this version you can see a rucksack and boots left outside in the snow, obviously the owner decided to abandon his 'mission' to the summit in favour of some easier recreation!
