The Wind & The Willows has been inspired by Hunsett Mill, near Stalham, Norfolk. Built in 1860 from locally-made red bricks it ran two scoop wheels and has to be one of the most photographed of all the norfolk mills...
Over the years, many of these mills were demolished, or fell into irreversible disrepair. Thankfully, however, there are still a number dotted around the region. Hunsett Mill is one of the finest examples of a preserved pump mill and stands on the banks of the River Ant. It has now been converted into a private dwelling, but its original features remain.
